Latest Issue of 'Energy Harvesting Newsletter' Finds New Power in Trees, Artificial Photosynthesis, and Real Water and Steam
Latest "Energy Harvesting & Self-Powered Devices Newsletter" examines new energy recovery technologies and the state of the industry.Mountain View, CA ( PR-Inside) October 16, 2008
The newly published Issue No.2 of 'Energy Harvesting & Self-Powered Devices Newsletter' by WTRS looks at many different conceptions of current developments in energy harvesting.
The most interesting of these are individually constructed artificial trees generating substantial power for homes with a combination of thermo voltaic cells and vibration generation.
Then there are prospects of artificial photosynthesis, perhaps using solar energy to split water into hydrogen and oxygen, enabling hydrogen production to become virtually ubiquitous.
Also of note is the remarkable future for solar-powered steam generation of electricity in large scale production, using a virtually self-contained system thereby eliminating both the cost of construction, installation, and ultimate recycling of photovoltaic materials that may have a life span of perhaps 10 years but troublesome issues with renewal and/or dismantling. Notable as well is the huge investment of VC millions in this project, with a factory already under construction.
In the face of all this glittering promise however, is a caveat that the timelines for development range from 1-2 years to 1-2 decades.
The 'main chance' of the moment remains, however, in the prospects of engaging 'energy harvesting' in the rapidly expanding field of wireless sensor networks. Powering sensors, eliminating or replacing batteries with self-generated energy, new fuel cells, or even transmitted power technologies is truly where the rubber hits the road right now.
The new 2nd edition of the 'Energy Harvesting & Self-Powered Devices' looks at these issues and aggregates news on: State of the Energy Harvesting Industry, Product Developments, Power Sources, and notes Industry Events.
